This morning’s blog post, re-posted and now entitled: Content highly inspired by Mary Schmich’s ‘advice, like youth, probably just wasted on the young’
- the following got deleted earlier, but here it is again. It’s not often I get on my high-horse about social media or politics (never politics!) on my blog, because that’s not the point. But I couldn’t let this one slide…

I caught the end of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings the other night. I wish I hadn’t - seeing as it’s sensationalist crap like every other Essex/Chelsea/“I’m drunk in Corfu and my parents don’t know about it” TV show. Whilst lying on a sunbed a 16 year old girl proclaims: “If I get cancer, I get cancer…at least I’ll look good” … There are so many words that come to mind. For now I’ll stick with ignorant idiot. Hearing those words made my blood boil. Here I sit fighting for my existence with my ‘it’s just back luck’ cancer riddled organs…meanwhile others continue to be disrespectful of their bodies whilst swanning about their daily lives as if they’re invincible.
Without coming across as a complete killjoy - you get one chance at this life. The human body is the greatest instrument you’ll ever own. Respect it, you are not invincible (‘it won’t happen to me’ attitude). Don’t waste time dwelling on fake tan and whether your thighs look fat. They’re not as fat as you imagine - and if you’re lucky to live another 10/20 years, you’ll look back at photographs of yourself and realize that what you had was actually beautiful and wonder why you invested so much energy into worrying about nothing.Be comfortable in your skin and feel grateful that you’re alive and well. And, one final thing, let’s not be as ignorant as the girl on the sunbed ay?
I guess some won’t agree with my perspective, but hey, this is how I feel. *this rant is over*
